Poldark Tours

These popular tours consists of three full days where we will visit the locations used during the filming of the recent BBC drama Poldark of which Barry your guide was involved as a driver for the main characters , we will also explore other places of interest along the way.

Poldark Tour 1, up to 4 persons £250

This tour will take us along the Atlantic coast where we will visit Perranporth where the author of Poldark Winston Graham lived from the age of 17  until he was in his 40s then a little further along the coast to the stunningly rugged area around St Agnes head  with its engine houses clinging  to the cliff edge which portrayed the Nampara valley of the Poldark’s family estate where we will take a walk across the headland to Wheal Coates mine, From here we will cross the county passing through the heavily mined area of Redruth  to reach The Lizard peninsula  and the  most southerly point on the British mainland.

Here we will visit Gunwalloe which provided the setting for a dramatic late night shipwreck scene, involving Aidan Turner and dozens of extras and also Dollar cove which made an appearance.

While we are on “The Lizard” we will have time to explore the beautiful Kynance cove, Cadgwith, The Lizard village and more..

Poldark Tour 2, The far West, up to 4 persons £250

During this tour we will visit the area around Lands End starting near St Just with its iconic views of Cornish engine houses and Levant Mine which played the role of the fictional Tressiders Rolling Mill while Owles and Crowns near Botallack which we will also visit starred as Ross Poldark’s Wheal Leisure, from here we pass by Lands End to reach Porthgwarra cove the place where Ross Poldark had his much talked about early morning swim spied on by Demelza.                                                                                         Now we will take a short drive along the coast to  the stunning Porthcurno beach with it’s crystal clear waters and my personal favorite the unspoilt Penberth cove which has been used in the filming for the second series.

Poldark Tour 3, up to 4 persons £250

This tour will take us from the south of Padstow which provided the spectacular cliff top scenery throughout the series and fans will also recognise  the stunning views across the Camel Estuary.

From here we will continue to drive along the North Cornish coast to Port Quin which played a large part in the the original mid-1970s version of Poldark, with Robin Ellis.

Now we will turn and head in land to cross Bodmin moor. Scenes featuring the exterior of Ross Poldark’s cottage, Nampara, were shot here.

The tour will now take us to Charlestown, an amazingly pristine, unspoiled example of a late Georgian working port.As you wander along the side of the original Grade II Listed harbour complete with Tall Ships, you can almost imagine that you’ve been cast as an extra or have been transported to Winston Graham’s 18th Century setting….
