Poldark Tours of Cornwall
These popular Poldark driving tours consist of two separate days which you can choose between. We will visit the locations used during the filming of the BBC drama Poldark, of which Barry, your guide, was involved as a driver for the main characters. We will also explore other places of interest along the way.
Poldark’s Cornwall
During this tour we will visit the area around Land’s End, starting near St Just, with its iconic views of Cornish engine houses and Levant Mine. This mine played the role of the fictional Tressiders Rolling Mill, while Owles and Crowns near Botallack, which we will also visit, starred as Ross Poldark’s Wheal Leisure. From here we pass by Land’s End to reach Porthgwarra cove, the place where Ross Poldark had his much talked about early morning swim spied on by Demelza. Now we will take a short drive along the coast to my personal favourite, the unspoilt Penberth cove, which has been used in the filming for the second series.
Poldark Tour 2
This tour will take us from the south of Padstow, which provided the spectacular cliff top scenery throughout the series and for the opening scenes.
From here we will continue to drive along the North Cornish coast to Port Quin, which played a large part in the the original mid-1970s version of Poldark, with Robin Ellis.
Now we turn and head inland to cross Bodmin Moor. Scenes featuring the exterior of Ross Poldark’s cottage, Nampara, were shot here.
The tour will now take us to Charlestown, an amazingly pristine, unspoilt example of a late Georgian working port. As you wander along the side of the original Grade II Listed harbour, complete with Tall Ships, you can almost imagine that you’ve been cast as an extra or have been transported to Winston Graham’s 18th Century setting…
Take a look at the South Cornwall tour which also includes Charlestown.
